Investment & exit readiness · Australian founder & family businesses

Investment-ready. Exit-ready.

Readiness isn’t a pre-sale scramble.
It’s built quarter by quarter.

Buyers and investors pay for certainty. A small team running the day-to-day flat out doesn't have time to also build that certainty — the readiness work drags out to next quarter, and every drag costs enterprise value when an investment or exit process finally starts.

RUNNING IT ALONE
You know the initiatives — they sit on a list, not a timeline
Day-to-day operations consume the whole team
Projects start, stall when the quarter gets busy, restart
The exit clock starts before the value work is done
WITH TANGO
A PARTNER AT BOTH ALTITUDES
Board-level ownership of the value creation agenda
Hands-on execution support so initiatives actually finish
Your team keeps focused on customers and operations
When the time comes, the investment or exit process runs from strength

What “ready” actually means

Six things every buyer or investor will test — fixed before they ever look.

01Financials that hold

Numbers that reconcile and can actually explain what has historically happened in the business.

02Margins at activity level

True understanding of how each product or service line delivers incremental gross profit.

03Cash you can forecast

Full visibility on where cash is moving in the business — working capital, capex, suppliers, staff.

04Revenue predictability

Diversified revenue with clear evidence on how you acquire, grow and retain customers.

05A growth story with proof

Initiatives delivered and visible in the numbers — not promised on a slide.

06Runs without the owner

A team and operating rhythm that doesn’t route every decision through one person.

How we work together

THREE PHASES · ONE ADVISOR THROUGHOUT
01Readiness review

An honest read of the business through a buyer's eyes — value today, the gaps, the opportunities and the plan to realise optimal value. Initial views in ~1 week.

02Build the value

Working inside the business on the prioritised value levers — including: financial and KPI reporting, cash management, revenue acceleration, capital structure, M&A, talent, AI. Typical engagement of 9–18 months.

03Run the process

Positioning, materials, buyer or investor outreach, competitive tension, negotiation, close — run end-to-end by the person who helped build the value.

WHY "TANGO"

It takes two. An owner who knows exactly what the business needs — and a partner with the bandwidth to help deliver it.

Fifteen years as board member and sponsor to 20+ founder and family businesses across the U.S. and Australia. I've set the value creation agenda in the boardroom — then rolled up sleeves with founders / families and management to get it done. Strategy and execution, one partner.

Questions owners actually ask

Straight answers, before you even pick up the phone.

Ask something else →
I'm not planning to sell now. Why would we talk?

Most of my work isn't the transaction — it's carrying the value creation projects your team hasn't had bandwidth to finish. A stronger, more valuable business is worth building whether or not you are ready to sell now.

How do your fees work?

A monthly retainer for the value-build work, and a success fee if and when we run a transaction — agreed up front, in writing.

Will my staff, customers or competitors find out?

No. Everything starts under NDA and stays confidential. Externally I look like what I am — a board-level advisor, an unremarkable presence in any growing business. Any eventual process is run tightly, with vetted buyers and staged access to information.

Do I have to sell, or can I take on an investor and stay?

Your call — that is the point of doing the readiness work early. The same preparation supports a full sale, a minority or majority investment, or simply a stronger business you keep. The process is shaped around the outcome you want, not the reverse.

Why one advisor instead of a firm?

You get the person with 15+ years experience alongside of you — not a partner who wins the mandate and a junior team who runs it. I collaborate with your existing specialist advisors (e.g. legal, tax), but accountability never leaves my desk.
